[UX] Book review - Predictably Irrational (Prologue)
The purpose of this book is making you remind why people just do in such a specific situation.
Situation 1. Nurses think they make burn patient less painful when they treat them quickly in chaning bandage.
Topic a. What we think something is so sure, but if that's not true...
Even if you fail to approach something and you can check what it is wrong, that is always meaninful. (What you were wrong is as important as you can succeed it.)
When you believe something is not incorrect, check if that is your stereotype to look at.
If you think something is wrong against others, you must think that something can be also wrong to other people.
Topic b. Is your choice really reasonable?
There is how to explain irrational things and that can be explained by behavioral economics. (This is what he has looked at the world.)
By the way, behaviral economics is a new research area between psychology and economics.
In economics, we're the perfect creature to consume our money enough. If we are not rational in some cases, that comes from the market power that leads the market by lots of people according to economics.
However, we are not as rational as we think. By the way, it doesn't happen without any consistency. That means we can predict what happens in the future as we look at what people do repeatedly.
Topic c. Have you ever thought why we do such a behavior in a certain situation?
The reason why we do the experience is what our life is so complicating. That's why it's very hard to make sure some phenomenon that people do in the world.
Moreover, even if the the insight from the experiment is so general but it can be applied to our life for sure.
That will be the real research how to explain complicating phenomenon, and how to apply to our life.
